About Us
BlindSail SF Bay was founded in 2007 under the name of Marin Sailing School Program for the Blind. In 2018, with the closing of Marin Sailing School, we changed our name, but our mission remains true!
BlindSail SF Bay provides persons who are blind and visually impaired the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of sailing and the basic principles of seamanship. The students learn to sail through the use of creative and adaptive methods in a hands-on, mainstream teaching environment. The objective is the same as for sighted sailors: to harness the power of the wind and to experience all the challenges and rewards of sailing.

BlindSail SF Bay is a proud partner of
Treasure Island Sailing Center
Special thanks to the Coastal Conservancy for the 2022 and 2023 Explore the Coast Grant
Their continued support of blind sailing means a lot to our sailors–and to us!
Thanks to the Peninsula Endowment Fund for their 2022 Innovation Grant
which funded the production of tactile maps and diagrams of the SF Bay, TISC, and the J/24 boats we sail on.
These will greatly enhance the understanding of where we sail and the boats we sail on.
And Thanks to the MAD Lab design and production staff at The LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
BlindSail SF Bay is a fiscally sponsored project of MarinLink, a California non profit corporation exempt from federal tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service
